SURVEY
I am curious ... if you currently regularly attend church, what caused you to get engaged with that particular church? Was it just where you grew up or was there something about the church or the people that caused you to make a decision to go there? Did you receive a formal invitation or was it more that you saw their works and were attracted?

I have attended church a SFUM for about 7 years. We went to a church outside town and wanted something closer to home. After my wife asked around, we thought that we would try it. We had also heard that the pastor was really good.
So I guess it was a combination of things. Invitation, the pastor and close to home. Now we are there because it feels like home and the people are super.
Other than my pastor, you're the first person to ever ask me this! I'll try to reward you by being brief but don't count on it...
I was saved. I needed a church. I started looking around for one online and in the neighborhood. I found one down the street from my friend's house but by the time I got home I had remembered only one part of the name of the church so I went online to search for it and ended up with the church I now call my church home instead of the one over by my friend's house.
As I walked up to the front door that first day I literally knew the Holy Spirit was standing right behind me the whole way. I've been going there for two years now and have never looked back. :-)
Very interesting. Thanks for the comments. After we were married, Lisa and I bounced around at about six different churches but, a lot of the time, we didn't go at all.
One of the six was Lisa's family's home church and one was mine.
Eventually, we ended up at mine ... I think we just felt more engaged there. The pastor who came there about eight years ago was close to our age and that certainly played a big role just because his sermons seemed to resonate with us better than the pastors' sermons at the other churches did.
As far as the other four churches we attended ... no personal invitation ... just exploring options.
