OIL
Whenever I think about oil as a natural resource, I cannot help but think of how marvelous God is, and how good He is to us. The recent discovery of new, large oil fields in the Gulf Of Mexico have me thinking again about this.
Thousands of years ago, God lovingly created the earth and life in a way which was designed to provide for our energy needs today. I cannot think about that without marveling at His genius. Plants He placed here thousands of years ago died and decomposed and sunk down in the earth and went through processes and changes that I cannot begin to fathom, all for the purpose of creating oil for us today. I cannot think about this without seeing it as witness to God's masterful genius.
We absolutely have a responsibility to look after and care for what He has provided. It is all just so amazing to me, though, made much moreso by the fact that such huge oil reserves are located in the middle east -- God's home turf, if you will. The oil there continually calls our attention to that geographic area and to religion in general, reminding us that He is soveriegn -- that thousands of years ago, He put a plan in place which sustains us still today.
