WHO WANTS TO BE A SUPERHERO?
I recently saw a couple of episodes of Sci Fi Channel's reality series, "Who Wants To Be A SuperHero". I am really at a loss for written words ... well, almost. It is one of the oddest things I have ever seen.
In the series, these people compete to become a SuperHero that will become a new comic book series. They have to invent their names, costumes, personas, super powers, and weaknesses. These people actually cried over their desire to win the competition. A Vincent Price-like guy gave them missions to complete and judged them on their success, slowly eliminating them one by one.
In one episode I saw, they had to meet with hardened criminals and try to complete secret missions such as hugging them, sitting on their laps, rubbing their shoulders, etc. It was a pretty tall order.
I generally find reality shows to bring out the worst in people and I don't like that. This was different, though, as they strived to show compassion and service and sacrifice for others -- all in attempt to become the next SuperHero.
All in all, it was just a pretty odd show. Odd enough that I suggest that you check it out for yourself.
